Since I’ve had to start anew for my blog I feel the need to back pedal and fill everyone in with some recent stuff that has been going on in the past few weeks.

The first item is my bass playing is starting to notably improve which is actually something quite fun to experience again. I’ve been playing for over 7 years roughly and was only truly passionate about it for the first 2 and for the other stretch it would be an occasional activity when I was bored or frustrated, so seeing this second wave of improvement is rewarding. I’ve usually been able to spend about 30-60 minutes daily practicing various songs and techniques that I’ve had my eye on for years and have only just begun to be able to play with regular practice and I think, a bit of discipline and maturity that came from growing with my instrument. Back in September I purchased a 5 string bass which for a month piqued my interest (I think that was due to spending money on such an investment) which again fizzled out until the winter but since February I’ve been playing strong, I think this relates to not having to play finally, but wanting to. Having always wanted a 5 string bass, especially one with decent active pickups that really produce a twang for slap/pop bass techniques that I love so much has really helped me explore different sounds and had some true fun with my instrument.
